Iḷisaġvik College is pleased to announce that it has signed an articulation agreement with the College of Business and Security Management at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF).
The agreement will ensure that Iḷisaġvik students are able to transfer the maximum number of credits when continuing their education at the College of Business and Security Management at UAF. The agreement lays out crosswalks of course equivalency to ensure a seamless transfer of credit, “embracing the principle,” according to the agreement, “that transfer students should not be required to repeat competencies already achieved.”
The agreement describes pathways to a UAF Bachelor of Applied Management degree based on Iḷisaġvik Associate degrees in Business, Construction Technology, Dental Therapy, Indigenous Human Services, and Information Technology; to a UAF Bachelor of Business Administration from Iḷisaġvik Associate degrees in Accounting and Business; and to a UAF Bachelor of Security and Emergency Management from Iḷisaġvik’s Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology.
The new agreement is just part of the ongoing relationship between Iḷisaġvik and the University of Alaska system. The College has an existing agreement with UAF for Liberal Arts students entering the education program, as well as an agreement with UAS Sitka for the Health Information Management program.
“We’re always looking for ways to streamline the transition for our students who want to continue their education beyond Iḷisaġvik,” said Iḷisaġvik College President, Justina Wilhelm. “We’re excited that these agreements will make the move as easy as possible and eliminate uncertainty about credit transferability for our students.”
